Storage Tips
Wrap in Muslin or Butter Paper: Store sarees in a soft muslin cloth or butter paper to prevent yellowing or snagging.
Fold Carefully: Avoid sharp creases over embroidered sections. Refold the saree every few months to prevent thread stress.
Use Padded Hangers: For sarees with heavy embroidery, drape them over a padded hanger instead of folding to avoid damage.
Avoid Plastic Covers: Plastic can trap moisture, leading to thread breakage and tarnishing of metallic embroidery.
Washing & Cleaning Tips
Dry Clean Only: These fabrics are delicate and should not be washed at home to prevent color bleeding or thread damage.
Spot Cleaning: For small stains, use a soft cotton cloth dampened with mild detergent and gently dab the area. Avoid scrubbing.
No Direct Water on Zari or Beads: Water can weaken the adhesive on beadwork or cause zari to tarnish.
Ironing Tips
Low-Heat Ironing: Always iron the saree inside out using a low-heat setting to avoid damaging the zari or embroidery.
Use a Pressing Cloth: Place a cotton cloth as a protective layer before ironing.
Steam Instead of Direct Heat: For heavy embroidery, use steam from a distance instead of direct ironing.
Preventing Tarnishing & Snagging
Store with Silica Gel Packs: This prevents moisture buildup, especially for zari and metal-thread embroidery.
Keep Away from Perfume & Sprays: Spraying directly on sarees can cause discoloration or staining.
